SHYMKENT RETAIL PARK – Shymkent, Kazakhstan.

The Shymkent Retail Park consists of an agglutination of a comprehensive commercial program,  together with large Family Entertainment venues – Aqua Park + Imax – plus an Hotel with Ballrooms, Conference rooms, and other social areas. In its design, the scheme expresses the different typologies of retail of the program, and articulates the volumes they occupy in order to create an image of diversity and dynamism. BAZAAR PARK SHOWROOM – Beijing, China.

The Bazaar Park showroom shop is to be located at Beijing’s brand new Daxing International Airport, the largest single terminal aircraft infrastructure in the world. This retail space is conceived as a sequence of displaying layers where the products are showcased as precious objects. These layers define circulation paths which work as a storytelling sequence and create differentiated areas for seating and relaxation. The shop also includes F&B and wine tasting areas. DOUBLE TREE by Hilton Arbat – Moscow, Russian Fed.

This new hotel will be located close to one of the most emblematic streets in the city, the Old Arbat Street. The building where the project is to be implemented was formerly used as a bank. The design concept takes inspiration from Arbat Street & Central Moscow’s elegant design, the memory of the pre-existing Bank and Constructivism / Avant-Garde movements. This 4 star hotel integrates a Bistro and a Lobby bar which aims to contribute to the city’s social landscape. (W/ ERA Architecture).

QUARRY Hotel – Anhui, China

This unusual project is promoted by the owner of a quarry located in the beautiful mountains of Anqing, in the Anhui province. The quarry will be deactivated and transformed into a 5 star hotel complex which offers 60 suite rooms, a Fitness, Spa & Wellness center as well as Event and Conference areas. The design takes advantage of it’s unique setting by carving the building into the natural stone offering the experience of living inside the quarry itself. (W/ ERA Architecture).

ZTE Headquarter – Shenzhen, China

The ZTE Headquarter project was organized for two different developers. The program consisted of office areas, hotel, commercial and cultural facilities.It was required that the full program was articulated by a public platform at the first level, connecting all the functions and the three different plots that composed the site.Curved Chinese roofs were an inspiration for creating a unique silhouette for one of the worlds largest companies. VANKE Vertical Village – Shenzhen, China

This highly dense Mixed-Use project brings together Retail, Offices and Residential functions. Our approach aims to generate a proximity scale that contradicts the impersonal spatial relations so common to high rise projects. Video for the Vanke Office Campus Competition.

KMO Retail Areas – Istanbul, Turkey

The KMO projects consist of a series of commercial outlets distributed in the Greater Istanbul metro area, along the North Marmara Highway (KMO) concession. Part of the design requirements were to develop a brand image that would make them recognizable in the region.The formal logic of this open air scheme was to articulate isolated volumes in a modern interpretation of small town. FOLKART Alsancak – Izmir, Turkey

Located in the heart of Izmir, Alsancak is neighborhood full history and life. This project uses all this urban energy and offers high-end residential, office and retail spaces.The mixed use complex is organized around an open air square which aims to become the most attractive social gathering point of the Alsancak area.The residents will enjoy a roof garden for relaxation and sport activities. AVIAPARK Shopping Center Renovation – Moscow, Russian Fed.

The purpose of this interior design competition was to refurbish some of the weaker circulation areas of the Aviapark Shopping Center in Moscow, one of the biggest, with more than 200.000 sqm of GLA. This proposal provided warmth and trendiness to the industrial and over pragmatic existing design. (W/ ERA Architecture).

MEGA PLANET Shopping Center – Shymkent, Kazakhstan.

This project consists on the renovation of an existing shopping Mall and an extension of the retail area, plus a nine store office building. The challenge was in finding a new architectural strategy for a well implemented and successful asset in a still developing and conservative city. Our approach centered itself on an appealing commercial language using a contemporary design approach taking into consideration a very tight budget. (W/ ERA Architecture).

5 COMMUNITY Centers – Dubai, UAE

Five different Community Centers spread out in the Dubai metropolitan area. Each building adapts to the neighborhood needs both in design as in functionalities. Besides the usual commercial functions, their program includes Music Schools, Medical Clinics or Child Care and the sizes range from 2.500 to 60.000 sqm. Common to all centers is the plastic display of white volumes and the use of meshes that filter the harsh Dubai sunlight. (W/ ERA Architecture).

HAPPY FAMILY Mall Renovation – Shenyang, China.

This project’s scope of work includes the façade renovation and the soft and hard landscape of the urban surrounding spaces of this large building. Being one of Shenyang’s most successful buildings and close to the historical local Forbidden City, our approach was a contemporary interpretation of the Chinese roofs used as façade skin wrapping the old structure. (W/ ERA Architecture).

LAW OFFICE Renovation – Istanbul, Turkey

The challenge in this project was to fit an office program in to an existing building structure designed to be a car park. We aimed to create flexible working areas articulated by social spaces to improve the work environment. We also searched for adaptability hence some spaces can become conference areas, projection rooms or a place for informal receptions. (W/ ERA Architecture).

LISHI PLAZA S. Center – Changxing, Ningbo, China

The main design intentions for this project were to create an atmosphere of proximity, inspired in the old villages existing in the region, by opposition to the new gigantic buildings which are transforming the city and somehow moving away from the human scale.   As in a delicate chirurgical operation, we propose a total new space conception of shopping experience by reshaping the interiors and the facades, using local materials such as bamboo, stone or autochthonous plants. (W/ ERA Architecture).

EURASIA MASTERPLAN – Almaty, Kazakhstan

The Eurasia Master Plan covers an area of 3 million m2 to be added to the development axis of Almaty. The development project was based on three main ideas: Ensuring a strong continuity of the city structure, incorporating the amazing surrounding landscape into the design and adding urban qualities to the new settlement. The urban project structures itself in a Social Campus that integrates Universities, Hospitals, Sports Facilities and a Concert Hall within an extensive public Park. (W/ ERA Architecture).

JINAN HARMONY MALL – Jinan, China

The historical Daming Lake landscape, in the city of Jinan, served as inspiration for this large Mixed Use Project, that includes functions such as Offices, an Hotel, a Shopping Center, Gardens and Parking areas.Inside the lake, several islands are connected through bridges and causeways, creating a network of different experiences. In our Project we explore this principle and translate it into an architecture concept. (W/ ERA Architecture).

CORNICHE Master Plan – Jumairah, UAE

On the edge of the Arabian Peninsula on the shore of the Gulf of Oman, Fujairah is in the stage of urban transformation due to the impacts of tourism development. A large part of the project area is built on land infill and accommodates touristic, commercial and cultural spaces as well as 6 residential buildings. While the 14-storey residential blocks are located at the closest point to the city, we proposed a lowered and fragmented architecture in the areas near to the shore. (W/ ERA Architecture).

VVIP MEJLIS – Doha, Qatar

This project is located at the West Bay of Doha, close to the Embassies Quarter. The Client requires us to design a VVIP Majlis for the Qatari Royal family. The Majlis is an archetype space in Arab culture that is used for gatherings and receptions, in this case it will be used for high level meetings. The program includes a Guest Suites and Office area which also includes the Emir’s private wing. Our proposal inspires itself on the Qatari architectural tradition. MALL OF QATAR – Doha, Qatar

This project consists of a very large commercial scheme that will provide Doha with a high quality retail  shopping Center. This commercial building includes a Luxury Retail area for the most exclusive world brands, with private and dedicated access. One of the main features of the project is a huge courtyard inspired in the traditions of Qatar which displays a series of leisure, entertainment and restaurant  areas all focused on the family. FORUM SINTRA – Lisbon, Portugal

Forum Sintra is one of the most outstanding commercial buildings in Europe for it’s striking design and complex constructive solutions. Forum Sintra opened it’s doors in April of 2011 and immediatly became a major successfull commercial venue in the outskirts of Lisbon. (Chapman Taylor Madrid Studio) – Designed in a partnership with ARX Portugal architects.

GORDION Shopping Center – Ankara, Turkey

On the suburb of Çay Yolu this development became the new center of a dense residential area. The complexity of this building is that it is built over a subway line. Because of this, most of the parking spaces are on the upper levels, over the malls. This made that the lay out of the skylights were subject to a deep study in order to bring the most possible quantity of natural light into the interior spaces. (W/ Chapman Taylor Madrid Studio).

ESPACIO CORUNA – La Coruna, Spain

Located in the sea side city of La Coruña this Shopping Centre architecturally takesreference in the local maritime culture of the place. Wooden structures and metal railings inspired from nautical construction are part of a total design that pays tribute to the context where the new building is raised. In the near future this new development will be surrounded by high rise residential buildings that will significantly increase the local population. (W/ Chapman Taylor Madrid Studio).

HOTEL & Resort – Suzhou, China

This project was conceived for a client with a special admiration for the architecture existing in the Iberian peninsula. The project searched to combine and adapt the local conditions with the style required by the client and also tried to find common levels between these two worlds. Specific chinese architectural aspects such as Feng Shui had to be taken into account. (W/ Atkins).

TOWN HALL – Chiclana de La Frontera, Spain

This winning proposal in a Public Competition gives a contemporary response in the historical urban context of the city of Chiclana de la Frontera. For that the we used the interpretation of the andalusian typologies such as the “patios” and the lattice works. The main idea was to redefine the place hence keeping its integrity and original nexus. (W/ ARV Arquitectos).

BAIXA 24H – Lisbon, Portugal

This Design Competition aimed for a proposal that would make the Lisbon area of Baixa to have a 24 hour a day life use. Our proposal inspired itself on the original antiseismic wood structure of the existing buildings, called the “bird cage”. We reinterpreted this XVIII century system by creating modular elements that could “contain” many different functions like retail, restaurants, bars, libraries, ticket offices, overnight rental rooms.
